Market Analysis for Key Features
To rebuild Mangold’s trading platform, we analyzed the industry, studied competitor offerings, and identified ways for Mangold to stand out. With insights from trading experts, we conducted market research on six key Scandinavian companies. Our findings, documented in Google Sheets, helped define the essential features for the new platform.

Feature Prioritization at Mangold
Different departments at Mangold, including Compliance, Back office, Business, and Customer Support, compiled a list of features they would like to see on the platform. We combined that with our insights from the market research and prioritized the features, defining which ones have to be prioritized.

Finally, we developed a comprehensive roadmap with the project’s milestones, deliverables, and essential activities.

UI/UX design and functionality

Our goal was to create a trading platform that would be convenient for all types of users, from trading experts to newbies who want to manage their personal financial assets. To achieve this goal, we focused on creating an intuitive user flow.

We started with a pre-design stage to set a foundation for how the future platform would look and perform.

Seamless and intuitive functionality

After the wireframes and component library were done, we moved to the design implementation, developing intuitive UI/UX for each module.
Sign up & onboarding

Users sign up on the platform by filling in their personal information and answering questions for a personalized experience. The user onboarding consists of 4 steps: Contact Information, Customer Information, Knowledge & Experience, and Signing.

Wallet & portfolio overview

One of our main tasks was to accumulate portfolio statistics on a single page. We implemented it through a portfolio dashboard where users can see data on all their stocks with a detailed breakdown of the assets, balance, and holdings.

Market overview

In the market module, users can view all available shares and select those they wish to buy or sell. The sidebar shows information on a chosen share with its market price and history.

Order list

Here, users can view their order history with details on each order, including company title, order ID, buy or sell side, volume, and price.

Savings plan

Beyond single orders, users can also create personal savings plans for automatic payments. For example, users can set up a monthly investment in a specific fund.

Transfer history

In this module, users can view their deposit history with each payment date, account specification, and amount transferred.

Document overview

In the document module, users can check and update their personal information and sign agreements for buying and selling shares.

Help desk

Mangold wanted to ensure that users could easily communicate with their Customer Support service. We implemented it through a chat feature, allowing users instant access to the Mangold team.

Dark mode

Challenges with the Previous Backend System
Mangold needed to replace its existing backend infrastructure to improve performance.
The previous system was managed by Skillgo and LeanOn. Skillgo provided core financial processing services, while LeanOn handled the integration of these services with the frontend.

The backend was responsible for both the frontend interface and financial calculations, creating a tightly coupled system that struggled to handle complex financial operations with the needed flexibility. As a result, the system frequently experienced errors, unstable performance, and trading disruptions.

Implementing a High-Performance Solution
To solve it, we moved the system to Crosskey’s 1Factor backend solution, specifically designed for high-stakes financial operations. We re-engineered data pipelines, optimized trade execution algorithms, and established secure, high-speed API integrations with Crosskey’s systems.

Before releasing our implementation to production, we conducted testing to ensure that the new backend could handle high volumes of trades and market data with minimal latency and maximum accuracy.
As a result, the platform is now more stable, more flexible to changes, and offers enhanced performance.

Another challenge was to integrate 15+ third-party services that were essential for efficient financial operations. Successful integration required a deep understanding of each provider’s API, security protocols, and performance characteristics. We developed a unique integration approach considering the specific technical requirements and functionalities of each service.

Migrating 15K users to the new platform

Our last challenge to solve was the migration of all Mangold’s existing users to the new platform. Since there was no unified user database, we had to carefully coordinate the migration with the Mangold team and make several rounds of adjustments.

After multiple iterations and rounds of testing, we successfully migrated all 15K users to the new platform, ensuring that their data was intact and ready for use on the new platform.

Project outcome

As a result of this project, Mangold released a completely revamped trading platform for web and mobile that differentiated them from competitors and allowed them to fully solve the problem of overcomplicated user interface and performance issues. We continue working with Mangold, expanding their platform with new features for corporate trading and robotized investment plans.
Zero support requests
When users moved to the newly redesigned platform, there were no support tickets about problems with onboarding or navigation. Users could intuitively understand the interface.
+1260 new users
The new platform allowed Mangold not only to keep their existing customers but also attract new ones. They value the platform for its simplicity, ease of use, and comprehensive feature set.
Faster business processes
We consolidated the needs of each department into a single product. This allowed Mangold to streamline its business processes, saving time across support and compliance departments.
