About Prostor
Prostor is Ukraine’s leading health and beauty retailer, operating over 470 stores across 132 cities. For more than 20 years, the company has been offering a wide range of products, including cosmetics, perfume, household chemicals, and personal care products.
How we built Prostor app
Making mobile shopping apps from scratch is always a challenge. But doing it for a leading retailer like Prostor, operating nationwide, makes it even trickier.
To kick things off, we started with a Discovery Phase.

Discovery Phase
We brought in a Business Analyst to document the requirements and establish a shared understanding of the project scope among all the stakeholders. Our Discovery Phase ended up with the following artifacts:
Competitor Analysis
We analyzed similar retail applications on the market, focusing on their design and functionality to shape the design concept of the future application.
Wireframes and prototypes
Based on the competitor analysis and user research, we created wireframes to align our vision with our client before we started the development phase.
Technology architecture
We selected a suitable tech stack and agreed on the overall solution architecture to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Design: Shaping a competitive product
To set Prostor’s app apart from the existing offerings in the market, we engaged our whole design team and some external talent. We also set up a focus group to inform our design decisions.
Component library
We built a detailed component library with custom icons and fonts that can be reused for new modules or features.
User Testing
The focus group tested key scenarios, and their feedback showed us what to tweak for the app to be more intuitive.
UI Design Concepts
Durying the design phase, we translated key findings into structured user flows and crafted design solutions that reflect the project’s objectives and user needs
Development: 10+ systems, perfectly connected
To integrate the app with 10+ internal and external systems, we closely cooperated with Prostor’s CTO, CMO, and content & creative managers throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Prostor’s back-office systems
Prostor has multiple back-office systems, including CRM, BPM, PIM, and a consumer-facing Adobe Commerce website. We seamlessly connected all these systems with the app.

Once the cart is full, shoppers can choose home delivery for ultimate convenience or pick up their order at the nearest Prostor store.
Add items to cart with a barcode scanner
Users scan product barcodes right in the app and add items to their cart in seconds. Fast, easy, and hassle-free.
Track bonus history
Buyers get detailed information about their bonuses, including the current balance and the history of earned and withdrawn bonuses.
Watch make-up tutorials
Navigating the main page, users can watch tutorials on the make-ups using the featured products. None of ProStor’s competitors has this feature.
Get personalized offers
Buyers learn about new Prostor promo events and discover personal limited-time offers. All within just one tap.
Check out with a variety of payment options
Customers can choose the most convenient checkout option and pay using Google Pay, Apple Pay, LiqPay, or a saved card.
Play games, earn rewards
With engaging gamification features, such as the Crazy Shaker, Surprise Wheel and Beauty Trio, users can earn points (called “beauties”) and redeem them for bonuses or gifts.

From a shopping app to a leading marketplace: 500,000 users and growing
In the first few months after launch, over 50,000 users downloaded the app from Google Play and the App Store. After a year and a half, that number has grown to around half a million. Today, Prostor isn’t just a shopping app. It’s a marketplace, opening new revenue opportunities for partners that sell alongside Prostor.
Moving forward, we are working on new features, like a habit tracker and in-app rewards, and improving the application based on customer feedback.
More than 10,000 downloads without any marketing efforts
Although the marketing campaign to promote the app is yet to start, more than 10K users have already downloaded the app from Google Play and App Store. Moving forward, our team is focused on implementing new features including push notifications, favorites, and ratings, and improving the application based on customer feedback.
